food community center

What if the perfect home for youth development programming were a commercial kitchen space housing vibrant artisanal food businesses?

The food community center provides a space for learning, craft and entrepreneurship by developing a kitchen classroom within food production space shared with established food businesses.  Converting light industrial space into a commercial kitchen development offering space for youth programming, nonprofit events, and food production.

Commercial kitchens are in high demand in the Bay Area. Leasing commercial kitchen space to food businesses can provide a sustainable revenue stream to create a community commons in the form of learning kitchens and event spaces.

Civil Labs has developed a financial model for this development and is working with Main Street Launch and the Northern California Community Loan Fund to further develop the venture.
